Help and support

If you’re ready to get on top of your gambling, a range of support options are available. These supports are also available for people impacted by the gambling of others, for example, family and friends.

Online

Gambling Help Online provides free information and access to qualified gambling counsellors online who can provide support either through live counselling or email. The service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be accessed anywhere within Australia. You can seek assistance anonymously or you can choose to register with the service so they can keep a record of your discussions for continuity of support.

Other supports

Another helpful resource is the Voices of Gambling Harm online learning module. Developed by Mental Illness Education ACT (MIEACT) in collaboration with the ACT Gambling Support Service, this self-paced online course will increase your knowledge about gambling harm, its impacts and where you can seek help if necessary. It includes lived experience stories, videos and activities related to gambling harm.

This module is primarily intended for people experiencing harm from their own gambling, as well as impacted family and friends. It is also a useful resource for anyone looking to increase their understanding of gambling harm. You can enrol in, and access, this free online module via the MIEACT website.

This MIEACT project received funding and support from the Commission through the ACT Gambling Harm Prevention and Mitigation Fund.
